After graduating from Doshisha Univ. in Kyoto, he established "Kyoto Academy Choir" in 1971. He got the Gold Medal 3 times at All-Japan Choral Competition and so on. In 1984, He has won the Gold Medal and Grand Prix at the 1st Takarazuka International Chamber Chorus Contest. In 1985, he conducted "Kyoto Academy Choir" at Fano International Polyphonic Choir Festival held in Italy as the first participant from the East. In 1987, the 1st World Symposium on Choral Music was held in Vienna, Austria, for which 18 choirs from 13 nations were invited to participate, including the Kyoto Academy Choir (director: Hiroshi Kuwayama) from Japan. He, now, conducts amateur chorus groups; "Ensemble Academy Kyoto", "La Primavera", "Grace Chorus", "Ensemble Anima Mea", "Ensemble Tou-oh", and also acts as a guest conductor and a judge at choral competitions in many parts in Japan. A member of Japan Choral Directors Association (JCDA's vice-representative of Kansai-branch) and Takarazuka International Chamber Chorus Contest Committee. | |
